Founded in 1953, Tieman Industries Pty Ltd began in the backyard of the founder Neil Tieman’s home, building tanks and vats for the dairy industry. The first road tanker, which was built in 1955 from stainless steel, was used for milk collection.
In 1958, after deciding to manufacture stainless steel equipment for the food industry, the Company experienced a rapid rate of growth that culminated in the establishment of the Keon Park site in 1961. 1973 heralded in a new generation of tanker design and manufacture with the introduction of the Tieman ‘ringed’ tanker. This design offered greater capacity, reduced tare weights and greater structural integrity.
Between 1973 and 1975, the company progressively grew to become a leader in the specialised production of Tankers. In 1980, the Company expanded into New South Wales, followed by South Australia in 1984 and Western Australia in 2008. In 1988, Tieman expanded their tanker range to include aluminium, for fuel and chemicals, and mild steel for bitumen.
The Tieman growth strategy continued well into the 1990’s with the establishment of operations in Queensland. In 1994, the Campbellfield site was purchased.
In 2008 Tieman signed an exclusive supply agreement with Italian manufacturer O.ME.P.S for distribution of aluminium dry bulk tankers into Australia and New Zealand. Also in 2008, Tieman entered into a strategic relationship with a Malaysian manufacturer which transitioned in 2013 into a supplier partnership with Symphony. In 2013, Tieman Industries celebrated 60 years of business….a significant and proud milestone for the Tieman Family and all its employees! In early – mid 2015, Tieman Industries went through a major restructure, resulting in the Tieman family creating a new company focused solely on its core premium product….Tankers!
