In 1953, the company was founded by Neil Tieman. Starting from his backyard in Preston they manufactured stainless steel tanks, vessels and equipment for the dairy industry.

The company grew through the 50`s and established a new manufacturing factory in Keon Park in 1961.

Through the 60`s larger capacity articulated tankers for the dairy industry became the norm and the business grew accordingly but also diversified into additional food manufacturing equipment.

In 1973 Tieman introduced the first `Ringed` construction tanker to the Australian market which reduced tare weights whilst offering added structural integrity maximising payloads.

Through the 80`s Tieman added interstate service branches to the business to service tankers, materials handling and tail lift equipment.

In 1988 Tieman introduced aluminium fuel tankers and mild steel bitumen tankers to their product range.

In 1994 the current Campbellfield manufacturing site was purchased.

In 2001 Tieman designed and built the first stainless steel bitumen tanker, an innovative non corrosive barrel design that still leads the industry today.

In 2008 Tieman partnered with O.ME.P.S, arguably Europe`s leading aluminium dry bulk tanker manufacturer, to become their exclusive distributor for Australia and New Zealand.

Recent first to industry PBS innovations by Tieman such as the 20m B Double, 20m Rigid & Dog Trailer, 26m `Tank Liner` range, the `Super Pocket`, the `Super Triple` and the latest `Tri Train` 42m combination demonstrates their focus on leading the tanker market.

With nearly 6000 tankers manufactured, Tieman tankers offer a mix of prescriptive and PBS designs that cover the complete range of bulk liquid and dry bulk tankers for the Australian, PNG and New Zealand markets.
